The Fraser & Mountain team were engaged by Monash University as the mechanical contractor for the Boiler and Solar Array Project at Monash University Clayton Campus Building 38.
The Thermal Project is Monash Universities first part in their transition from natural gas. It’s the most efficient and cost effective means to achieve the transition in the short term.
The Solar Thermal system was required to meet the primary heat demand which is the hot water loop, it operates at 150 degrees plus. The Solar Thermal system needed to generate these types of temperatures and also was required to sit onto the roof top.
This project is about half of the field that is being planned to be rolled out, once completed there will be about 1 megawatt of heating capacity which aligns with the summer demand with an estimated payback of around 8 years.
